Why South Africa is a safe safari bet...

Health and safety are a priority in the Rainbow Nation

Don't believe the bad press about a poorly branded COVID-19 variant that's been found in more than 32 countries across the world... South Africa doesn't have its own strain of COVID-19 and currently has one of the best lockdown results in the world, with numbers that make northern hemisphere superpowers embarrassed to say the least.

South Africa was also one of the first countries in the world to roll out strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols to its tourism industry, becoming tourism ready much earlier than many of its African colleagues. So we can absolutely assure you that a South African safari is not just a safe bet, but the ideal way to get away from it all and social distance with style.

The South African safari industry has embraced health and safety protocols and rest assured that your wellbeing is our absolute priority, so we take great care in selecting your safari camp or lodge to ensure you are in safe hands, 100% at ease and can relax on your wonderful safari.

As of the date of publishing this blog, South Africa is currently at Lockdown Level 1, and all of its restaurants, hotels and tourism attractions are open for business meaning that we are able to put together an absolutely first-class itinerary for you, irrespective of whether you are a local travelling in your own "back yard" or a visitor from overseas.

So consider visits to places of interest as part of your South African safari tour, even though your focus is going to be on enjoying the country's amazing game reserves and fantastic wildlife. We recommend a few days in the Greater Kruger National Park and its surrounds, perhaps combining this with some time to explore the beautiful Panorama Route and breathtaking scenery this region offers.

The Greater Kruger National Park is made up of the Balule, Klaserie, Timbavati, Manyeleti and Sabi Sands private nature reserves which are unfenced and open to the Kruger National Park, creating a vast swathe of pristine wilderness that's packed with wildlife and some of the best-loved safari lodges in the country.

Or how about a visit to Madikwe Game Reserve in North West province? Just a four-hour drive from Johannesburg, this 680 square kilometre reserve is home to the Big Five and is one of the country's greatest conservation success stories. It was originally farm land that has been restored to a pristine wilderness, with more than 10,000 animals relocated to help restock it. With some wonderful lodges on offer, Madikwe is the fifth largest reserve in South Africa and a great safari destination.

South Africa's beautiful Northern Cape is also an option for a safari with a difference, with its incredible, arid landscapes around Augrabies National Park and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Or opt for beautiful northern KwaZulu-Natal with its rolling hills and lush valleys and the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.

So chat to us today about creating the perfect antedote to the COVID-19 blues and arranging a stunning South African safari tour especially for you.

Please note: We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance, especially for medical emergencies, wherever you choose to travel in Africa. South Africa's private hospitals are world-class, as are all of its private medical facilities, and access to them should be covered by your insurance policy should you need medical advice or treatment during your safari. Talk to us if you need more advice in this regard.
