Day 1: Arrive at Sun City

Just a two-hour drive from Johannesburg, Sun City needs no introduction to South Africans and is renowned as being the country’s entertainment capital with stunning hotels, a host of exciting activities on offer and sensational views out over the adjacent Pilanesberg game reserve.

You’ll be checking into the Cascades Hotel for the first two nights of your safari and golf adventure. This five-star hotel is renowned for its palatial accommodation and spectacular grounds, as well as its ideal position with the entertainment centre, Gary Player Country Club and all of Sun City’s extensive facilities within easy reach. 

After checking in, go out and explore this fabulous place, walking through the incredible grounds, stopping to swim and sip cocktails as you go. You have access to the Cascades pools as well as the Sun City Hotel pool just a short walk away.

Have dinner in the hotel restaurant or choose from one of a myriad dining options throughout the Sun City complex.

DAY 2: At Sun City

Today is golf day and your tee-off time will have been arranged for you on the fabled Gary Player Country Club course. The home of the legendary Nedbank Golf Challenge (formerly the Million Dollar Challenge) – an invitational competition held each November – this is one of the world’s most challenging courses that has to be walked (you can only arrange a golf cart if you are physically unable to walk the course). 

With its deep fairways, terrifying rough and difficult greens with pins often tucked out of sight, the Gary Player Country Club course is taxing for the best players in the world, but an absolute must for any discerning golfer.

Allow five hours to complete your 18 holes, including a much-needed stop at the Halfway House. Then meet up with friends and family in the Country Club lounge and restaurant for some post golf drinks. Or arrange a massage at the adjacent spa and health centre. Alternatively, just go and relax by a sparkling pool before dinner.

DAY 3: Madikwe Game Reserve

After breakfast at the Cascades and check out, you will take the leisurely two-hour drive to the nearby Madikwe Game Reserve, home of the Big Five! You’ll be checking in to the luxurious Jaci’s Safari Lodge, located overlooking a seasonal river in this wonderful African wilderness. 

After checking in to your tented suite you’ll meet on the deck for afternoon tea before heading out on an afternoon/evening game drive, discovering the amazing array of wildlife species that call this reserve home, as well as a chance of seeing some of the iconic Big Five – elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard and lion – as well as painted wolves (African wild dogs) and cheetah.

You’ll stop for sundowners out in the wilderness where you can stretch your legs and raise a glass to the setting sun. You’ll return to the lodge in time for a sumptuous three-course dinner under the African stars. 

Overnight: Jaci’s Safari Lodge

DAY 4: Jaci’s Safari Lodge

You’ll get a pre-dawn wake-up call so you can meet on the deck for early morning coffee and rusks before heading out onto your morning game drive with your experienced, professional safari guide.

You’ll explore the reserve, stopping to observe wildlife interactions and study tracks, learning all you can about the African bush from your knowledgeable guide. On return to the lodge you’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast, after which it’s time to relax. Take a nap, stretch out next to the sparkling pool, or curl up in the lounge area with an interesting book – the choice is yours.

After lunch it’s time to head out again on your afternoon/evening game drive before returning for another stunning dinner under the stars.

DAY 5: Time to leave

Wake up early for a morning game drive or choose to sleep late – the choice is yours. After breakfast it will be time to say farewell to Jaci’s and make the journey home.

Two night’s accommodation on a bed & breakfast basis at the Sun City Cascades Hotel.

Two night’s accommodation on a full-board basis (breakfast, lunch and dinner) at Jaci’s Safari Lodge, plus tea and coffee and game drives.

Excluded:
